5 Seconds of Summer’s meteoric rise – from YouTube to 1D’s global support act to headlining their own world arena tour – is unprecedented in the music industry. With almost 100 dates on their first international outing, Rock Out With Your Socks Out delighted just shy of a million fans, and grossed over $37,000,000.
Although they’ve diversified, music has always been a core part of MTV’s identity, so it was a natural fit to take the whole US leg of the tour. They treated different audiences and regions across the country to specific, targetted content, including promotions for Scream, their monday programming, and the VMAs (starring Miley Cyrus).
